Mayors Charity Golf Classic

The Mayors’ Charity Golf Classic was another hole in one. Jim VanDusen, Dealer Principal, and Jim Gibbens, General Manager, were on hand to draw the winning ticket for the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation’s 2017 car raffle. The winning ticket was Lorraine with ticket #93. Congratulations Lorraine on your brand new 2017 Chevrolet Equinox.

Boyer Chevrolet Buick GMC is  proud to support the Mayors’ Golf Classic as it provides game changing equipment for the Ajax Pickering Hospital. The 22nd annual tournament raised $175,000 towards the purchase of a new video platform that will be used in the operating room for the diagnosis and treatment of rectal cancer. Now, with the touch of a button, surgeons can engage an endoscopy near-infrared fluorescence mode which can crisply differentiate colour and shading. This allows blood flow, as well as how well blood is flowing through the tissue to easily be seen and assessed. Ajax Pickering Hospital will be the first hospital east of the GTA to acquire this equipment, and will be only one of five in all of Ontario.

Also of note, Mayor Dave Ryan of the City of Pickering received the 2017 Howard Sokolowski Award in recognition of his amazing fundraising and volunteer work for the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation. During his time working with the Foundation, Mayor Ryan has helped raise over $10 million for our community hospital.

This year’s event brought the cumulative amount raised by the Mayors’ Charity Golf Classic to $3,231,500. Wow!
