Chevrolet is Rolling Out the Pan Am Games!
In a few short months Toronto will be hosting the 2015 Pan Am Games. The Pan American Games are the 3rd largest international multi-sports games in the world. Only the Olympic Summer Games and the Asian Games surpass it. The Pan Am Games consist of 36 sports, 40 disciplines and almost 400 events. It turns out that I have a family connection to the Games. My father-in-law competed in the 5th Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. He was on the Canadian National soccer team that ended up finishing fourth overall.
Chevrolet believes in the power of play and Boyer Chevrolet Buick GMC was proud to host a Meet & Greet for Pan Am Games volunteers on Saturday, October 25th. There were representatives from the Town of Ajax, Chevrolet, the Pan Am Games and the dealership including: Mayor Steve Parish, Regional Counsellors Shaun Collier and Colleen Jordan, Ward 1 Counsellor Marilyn Crawford, Director of Recreation & Culture Tracey Vaughn and Recreation Co-ordinator Laura Teggleberg. We also welcomed James Hodge from General Motors and Barb Vink and Stephanie Delima from the Pan Am Games.
About 75 volunteers took advantage of the opportunity to meet other local volunteers and learn what to expect during the lead up to the 2015 games. We were very proud to participate and provide the venue, fun games, the BBQ and some great prizes for this event.
“The reality is a great community like we have here in Ajax comes from support and contributions from various areas. Organizations like the Pan Am Games bring excitement. Yet without the help of volunteers who give back to their community, private companies and the Town of Ajax these types of events are just not possible.” – Jim VanDusen owner of Boyer Chevrolet Buick GMC.
