PAN AM Torch Relay

Saturday, June 6, 2015 – A great day here in Ajax. The weather was perfect, the planning by the Town of Ajax was great and a whole lot of residents came out to watch the Torch Relay and have some fun!   I was asked many months ago if we’d supply a vehicle to carry one of the special ‎Torch Bearers.

With Chevrolet being one of the title sponsors, Boyer Chevrolet Buick GMC being the local Ajax Volunteers’ Sponsor (400 of them), supplying a vehicle was a no-brainer.

‎What was truly special for me though was – carrying Louise Johnson for her stretch of the relay. She is a remarkable lady.  A former “Bomb Girl”‎, still very much involved in the Community as an ambassador for the Bomb Girls Legacy Campaign and other activities, she was amazing.   At 93 years old – she was delightful to chat with and full of energy!

As we departed Town Hall, following the Defense Industries Limited Ice Cream Social with the torch – you would have thought Louise was a Rock Star!   The cheering from the crowd was fabulous.  I felt lucky to be a small part of it.

Louise – you were great and it was an honour to be your driver!
