Pan Am Games | Community Matters

The Pan Am Games are a big deal. The event being held here this summer in Toronto is actually larger than the recent Vancouver Olympics. I did not know that until recently.

Boyer Chevrolet Buick GMC is a proud sponsor of the Games.

In fact it was General Motors and more specifically Chevrolet ‎who is a title sponsor of the games.  Their involvement certainly peaked our interest.

Late last year we held a fun event – BBQ, Orientation, games and prizes for local volunteers‎.

We will be providing a vehicle for the Torch Relay, we will be a stop – or at least a Town designated – Cheering Section – ‎for the relay.

We are the local Ajax Volunteers sponsor. It’s expected there to be some 500-600 local volunteers.  Hey all need shirts, water battles and more!

This has also allowed us the opportunity to support the Town of Ajax.

We firmly believe a great Community is build with the support of strong Government Leadership, great local charity organizations and resource and participation support from local businesses.

From what I’ve seen so far the Town of Ajax is ready ‎for the games. Ajax will be hosting baseball and softball games.

What’s really impressed me is all the planning that’s occurred so far.

One such example is last Sunday March 29, 2015 – where the Town held an information Session – outlining a variety of plans.

These included:

Transportation and Routes (for athletes, specatotors, ‎transit, cycling and closures)
Venue Operations (Set-ups, Hours, Deliveries, Ticketing. Parking)
Local Neighborhood Plan (Enforcement & Programming)

Security

There were also display tables set-up to address specific questions. As a sponsor we attended. It’s been great working with our local officials. They care about our Community and it shows! The games are going to be great!  Get involved somehow if you can as a spectator or volunteer!
